What I’ve Been Working On (And Why)
I really didn’t plan to write about suffering.
For years, the book of Job has been a mystery to me. I kept coming back—sometimes curious, sometimes frustrated—always wondering what on earth I was missing. Deep down, I wanted to understand why God allows suffering. Not in an abstract, theological sense, but in the raw, personal way that comes when life just doesn’t turn out like you prayed it would.
Eventually, I thought I’d moved on. I was tired of circling the same hard questions and heavy emotions.
But Job’s story kept pressing on my heart—steady, persistent—like God does when He’s not finished with something. So I listened to that gentle nudge… and wrote a book. An actual book. I still can’t believe I’m saying that.
Now it’s in process—almost finished—and I truly believe it’s going to be beautiful.
It’s called This Isn’t the Life I Prayed For: A Study of the Book of Job. It’s a 15-week Bible study for anyone holding life together with duct tape and prayer. It’s for the one going through tragedy and wondering if God still sees you. For the one sitting in a hospital waiting room, staring at a closed door. For the one who lost a job and feels too proud to admit they’re scared. For the strong one who secretly feels like they’re coming undone.
This study doesn’t sidestep the pain or rush you past it. It sits with you in the tension—that space where faith and pain collide—and makes room for your raw questions:
Where is God when everything falls apart?
Does He still see me when life looks nothing like I prayed it would?
Is there hope when the answers don’t come?
These questions don’t scare Him. Job’s story shows us we can wrestle with life’s hardest moments and still find hope. Not because everything magically works out, but because God’s goodness never changes.
Here’s a peek at what’s coming: it’s an 8x10 softcover book, about 250 pages long, with bold, beautiful photographs, wide margins, and room to breathe. I want it to be a steady companion for your journey through hard seasons.
If you’re longing for a study that lets you be honest—to question, to wrestle, to sit with your grief and not feel like you’re failing at faith—this was written with you in mind, and I’ve been praying for each reader for a long time.
Thanks for being here—more very soon.
